New X470 Motherboard Chipset
For all its 2nd generation processors, AMD has released new X470 chipset motherboard which have an improved memory layout, better overclocking support, reduced latency and lower power consumption.
However, all 2nd generation processors are still compatible with older generation X370 AM4 motherboards, only a firmware upgrade is required to make the new processors work .
The major difference between X370 and X470 motherboard is: Precison Boost 2 and XFR2 will not work in X370 motherboards.
